Reflections on Learning Information Management 1: My Journey and Insights
It's been a month since attending my INFORMATION MANAGEMENT 1 class, and I have to say that I'm enjoying the experience so far. Since the class is both online and face-to-face, we've been using Google Meet to connect with our professor and classmates during online class.
On our last meeting, we continued our discussion on the basics of information management, specifically on the topic of database management systems. We learned that a database is a collection of data that is organized in a way that makes it easy to manage, access, and update.
We also learned about different types of database management systems, such as hierarchical, network, and relational databases. Our professor explained how each type of database system has its own advantages and disadvantages and how they are used in various industries and organizations.
One of the activities that we did in class was to create a basic database schema using the Entity-Relationship (ER) model. We were given a scenario where we had to design a database for a school that tracks student grades and attendance records. It was a challenging yet fun activity that gave us a glimpse of how databases are created and designed.
Overall, I'm enjoying my INFORMATION MANAGEMENT 1 class so far. I'm learning a lot about the fundamentals of information management, and I'm looking forward to learning more about database systems in our future classes.
